Minatoku
Minato-ku is an actual administrative ward in Tokyo that contains Roppongi, Azabu, Aoyama, and Akasaka — some of the most expensive neighborhoods in Japan. Because real estate prices are among Tokyo's highest, the word 'Minato-ku' itself has become shorthand for wealth and high status. Saying 'I live in Minato-ku' isn't just stating an address — it implies serious financial power. Among residents, there's a notable population of successful entrepreneurs, along with people whose source of income is... unclear. Social media spawned derivatives like 'Minato-ku ojisan' (Minato-ku older guys) and 'Minato-ku joshi' (Minato-ku girls), usually associated with a glamorous but pretentious world. As slang, 'Minato-ku' refers more to a lifestyle and set of values than actual geography.
